My Week in Pictures | 20.04.15-26.04.15

Hey guys,

How's your day going? I hope it's going great and if not, it's not too late to turn it around.

I've had such a busy exciting week. So let's get straight into it.

I've been wanting to rearrange my room for a very long time. My room is a decent size and I was looking for some ideas to help me with my office area. So I took to google to help find myself some inspiration. I came across some lovely looking offices and I definitely found the inspiration I needed. Here are a few:

On Saturday my family and I celebrated my brothers birthday and Baptism. It was a lovely fun-filled event with food, family, fun and games. My inner child was definitely unleashed. It was just fantastic. It was almost like a family reunion, there family members that I hadn't seen in years.

On Monday, I took part in the Bloggers Love Hub Twitter Party. We discussed the ways in which we would like companies to interact with bloggers/vloggers and similar issues as part of this, I will be collaborating with Sebamed and Slendertox Tea. Keep an eye out for a review on both companies.

That's it for today. I hope you've enjoyed this post. Remember to stay positive and enjoy the rest of your week.

See you soon,
Tee xoxo

Kia's Hair Journey

Bonjour everyone!

My name is Kia also known as Kay and I'm here to do a cheeky feature on beautyandtee. I have a natural hair blog called Divinus Ater talking about different hair regime and different tips and tricks I've acquired over time. Today I'm here to talk about my hair regime but first I'll give you a bit of info about myself.

I've been natural all my life, I've never applied any relaxer to my hair and have only had 'blow outs' three times in my life. I started my natural hair blog less than a month ago to inspire those who may want to transition to natural and offer tips to those that are natural. My current hair length is somewhere between my collar bone and bra strap and I'm aiming to get my hair at bra strap length. I usually wear protective hairstyles eg braids or weave but I've decided to give my hair a couple of months to breathe and be natural.

On a day to day basis I have my hair in a French braid cornrow hairstyle. I use Jamaican Black Castor Oil on my hair as, for me, it moisturises my hair and makes my hair softer and easier to manage. To seal in the moisture I apply Shea butter all over my hair but especially on the tips of my hair as that's where it's the driest and it works a treat!  At night I usually plait up my hair either in big plaits or cornrows depending on the hairstyle I'm trying to execute the following day.

Now don't get me wrong, it seems like I've got my hair figured out but it's taken a long time to get here and it's still an ongoing process. I've always had thick hair but during my secondary school life, my hair was just about long enough to tie into a ponytail. I tried a variety of different products to aid the healthy growth of my hair but yet I failed on numerous accounts.

Instead I chose to shield my hair behind weave and braids however when I was around sixteen, I decided enough was enough and decided to invest more time into looking after my hair. I went through product after product and spent hours on natural hair blogs and websites until I found the products that worked for me and here we are today.

I guess the message I'm trying to convey is whether you're thinking about transitioning to natural or have been a naturalista for some time, we all experience set backs but the thing that defines you is whether you let that stop you. My hair is growing healthier and faster than ever and I'm loving the journey I'm on!

Feel free to check out my blog:

Or if you have any questions you want to ask me with regards to my hair journey or any hair care tips, ask at:

Thank you for reading and carry on supporting beautyandtee!

Thanks Kia! If you'd love to see some more of Kia on my blog just let me know.

See you soon,
Tee xoxo

How to Revise | #WAKEUPWEDNESDAYS

Hey guys,

How are you? Im fine, thanks for asking. I hope you're all having an amazing week so far. So I'm back with yet another #WAKEUPWEDNESDAYS. Today's post is on revision. I'm going to give you 4 simple tips that will help you get started.

Let's get straight to it.

Step 1:
Find out what type of learner you are.
There are multiple tests out there that will help you find out whether you are a visual, auditory or kinesthetic type of learner.

Here are some useful sites;

Step 2:
Find out what sort of methods work for you.
Now that you know what type of learner, you need to know what methods work for you. This may feel like step 1 but it's not. For example, you can be a visual learner and find that making posters doesn't work as well as making flash cards. It's all about finding out what works for you.

Step 3:
Find out what methods work best for each subject.
Successful revision is all about identifying your strengths. There's no point in using methods that don't work. From experience, I've found that my revision method needs to be different for each subject.

For example, for Spanish I just revise vocabulary, for History I create mind maps for a topic overview and then flash cards for any important information and for Psychology I listen to podcasts and rewrite my notes.

As you can tell I'm a combination of all learning types so don't think because a quiz tells you that you're a specific time you must eliminate the rest. The quiz simply tells you what learning type suits you the most.

Step 4:
Start revising.
Now that you know what type of learner you are, the methods that work for you and each of your subjects, it's time to get down to work. There's no point in just having all this information and not doing anything with it.

For all of you preparing for your exams, I wish you the best of luck. You will be fine, believe in yourself. Always exude positive energy. The power of the tongue is powerful, don't speak negatively about your results; you don't want to jinx it.

See you soon,
Tee xoxo

My Week in Pictures | 13.04.15-19.04.15

Hey guys,

It's yet another late post from me. Today is Monday and it was my first day back at  college; so everything is very hectic. But let's get straight into today's #MWIP.

I'm not going to bore you with pictures of my revision notes but that's literally what I've been doing. So on Friday, I decided to do something different. Me and my little sister decided to take a trip down to Queensway and then to Oxford Circus.

Once we got to Queensway Station we got the Bus 70 down 3 stops. I have been wanting to pay a visit to the Guru Makeup Emporium and I wish I had gone sooner. The place is absolutely amazing, it's literally like a MAC store just with more brands to choose from which makes it 10 times more fabulous.

Another reason it's so fabulous is because they let you try the products in store, you can literally do a full face of make up without getting any hassle. The workers are extremely friendly and I will definitely be returning again.

After, we went back to the station and got a train to Oxford Circus. This is where I began my hunt for a BLUE dress for my brothers baptism. My mum loves everything to be co-ordinated and she just had to pick one of the hardest colours ever. I had searched 4/5 shops when I had lost hope. We went in to McDonalds to get something to eat and then we went to my favourite shop of all time. KIKO.

If you know me, you know that I love KIKO to bits. They sell amazing products at amazing prices. OMG! The one in Oxford is massive. It even had a downstairs. The products are pretty much the same on both floors but it just means you don't have to wait as long just to get a good view of a product. I left the shop absolutely ecstatic.

On Sunday night, I was able to witness this beautiful sunset. One of the first I've seen in quite a long time. It was absolutely gorgeous. I hope to see many more sunsets this week.

That's it lovelies. I hope you all have a fabulous week. I have a surprise for you on Friday. Don't forget there will be a post up on Wednesday.

See you soon,
Tee xoxo

Society | #WAKEUPWEDNESDAYS

Hey guys,

It's Wednesday. I know it's super late but it's still Wednesday! Today's Wake Up Wednesday's post is going to be about society.

Society in my opinion is one of the most confused things ever. This is simply because society loves to contradict itself a lot.

One day society will tell you to embrace your insecurities but then the next day you will see a picture like this:

This picture has caused so much controversy across the net simply because it begs the question of "Who are you to tell me what a beach body looks like?". Images like this make many women feel inferior and insecure about their appearance.

There was a response to this picture from the Daily Mirror by "Us vs Th3m" that I loved. Here's their instructions on how to get the perfect beach body:

1) Take your body to the beach
2) Stay there!

Read the full article: CLICK HERE

As a young woman growing up in today's society I find it hard to embrace my flaws and love myself for who I am because I am constantly being shown an idea of perfection that looks nothing like me. I know I shouldn't let this get to me but at times, it does. How am I supposed to be comfortable with who I am, if I look nothing like the girls on the TV? Surely, I'm not the only one that feels like this.

Luckily enough for me, I've grown up in an area which is full of diversity. I have been surrounded by people of all different races and sizes. I have met people that are a lot bigger than I am that love life a lot more than those that are a similar size to those on the TV. I have also met people of different ethnicities that feel more British than those born here.

What I'm trying to say is that, you should never allow society to determine how you feel about yourself or anyone. He's black, so what? She's Mexican, so what? He's Muslim, so what? And they're "fat", so what? As cliche as this may be, never judge a book by its cover. A person may have more to offer you but you're too busy letting societies stereotypes and ideologies stop you from getting to know them.

Also, don't let society make you feel inferior as long as you are happy with the way you look, the things you wear and the people you hang with; why should you let anyone tell you how to live?

As Shameless Maya would say:

My Week in Pictures | 06.04.15-12.04.15

Hey guys,

Today's Wednesday. I'm super sorry for this post being late but I've been ridiculously busy. But let's not waste anymore time.

Here's my week in pictures;

1) Last week was the start of my fitness journey and I have already started to notice some results. I have no idea who the lady in the above picture is but her body is what I'm striving to achieve. I think that having a visual image of what you're trying to achieve will keep you motivated and on track.

2) On Saturday, I was lucky enough to get to go and see Mandem On The Wall at the Hackney Empire for their first live performance. The show was a great hit. It was full of humour and relatable moments. My favourite moment had to be when the boys went into the audience and chatted up a girl of their choice.

3) With less than 30 days to my first AS exam, I've kicked my revision up a notch. These are 2 of the apps I use for my Psychology revision but I have many more for my other subjects. For those of you revising for your exams, I highly recommend browsing your App Store to see if you find anything that can help you revise on the go.

My life literally just consists of cheerleading and revision, so not much happened this week but hopefully once my exams are done, I will have more interesting things to share with you all.

That's all for now.

See you guys soon,
Tee xoxo

Believe | #WAKEUPWEDNESDAYS

Hey guys,

It's Wednesday! It's been a while since I combined my post with a video so that's what I'll be doing today.

Today's message is all about believing in yourself.

It's one thing to know what you want to do and how you're going to do it, but it's another thing to believe that you can actually make it happen. I genuinely believe that everything is possible if you believe in yourself. Instead of envying someone else's success, use it as motivation to make the same or better happen in your life. If someone else can achieve it then so can you; regardless of race, gender and occupation. Success does not discriminate. Success is for all.

Believing in yourself is incredibly important as it will dictate the way you speak about yourself; and the power of the tongue is incredibly strong. If you speak negativity on your life, negativity will come. If you speak positivity on your life, positivity will come. It's not only speaking positively, but also rebuking any negativity anyone may try to bring into your life.

I came across two videos that I feel express the message I want to put across better than I can; so I'm going to stop typing and let the videos speak for me.

I hope these videos helped you to understand my message. If there's one thing I want you to take from this post it has to be that it's your dream, get up and do what you've got to do and believe that you can do it! Have a great week.

See you soon,
Tee xoxo

My Week in Pictures | 30.03.15-05.04.15

Hey guys,

It's Bank Holiday Monday. Easter's over and now it's time to put in the work. Like I said before it's Monday, so in this post you'll be finding out about the things I did last week.

Let's get started.

1) You've most likely seen someone wearing the Adidas Originals ZX Flux in some sort of colour; and if you haven't then, that's ok. As mentioned in my last #MWIP, I have extremely small feet which makes finding the shoes I want ten times harder; these trainers were no exception. I searched high and low, near and far but I still never came across a pair in size 3. It was when I had given up looking for them, that I found them.

These are the most comfortable trainers that I have EVER had. I suggest you go out and get yourself a pair.

2) Also as mentioned in my last #MWIP, I was on work experience. What I didn't know was that I was going to end up at Barclays. I had such an amazing time and got to learn more about the company and law from a different perspective. Law isn't as boring as it may seem. My whole work experience gave me the drive to become a lawyer and work hard to achieve that goal.

3) As a beauty blogger, this is extremely shameful. I love applying makeup but I hate having to wash my brushes. I wish there was a product that could just do it for me. I literally don't remember the last time I washed my makeup brushes; yesterday was the first time in 4 weeks or so. That's just disgusting. But now that I've washed them, they feel incredibly soft and they look flawless. This picture is of my brushes before I washed them before I get questions about my definition of flawless.

That's it! I wish I could have taken more pictures during work experience but I signed a confidentiality agreement which means that I can't really disclose any information about it. I had an amazing week and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

I hope you all have a great week.

See you soon,
Tee xoxo

3 Fabulous Foundations for Dark Skinned Girls

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've done a beauty related post, so today's the day I start to change that.

As a dark skinned girl it can be very hard to find brands that have a foundation for my skin type. I've heard from other dark skinned women that they either have to mix multiple products to achieve their colour; which I think is extremely unfair. Why must we have to go through such struggle for something that could've been prevented.

I think one reason coloured women don't find products for their skin tone is because they're either out of their reach or they're not aware that they exist. I hope to expose my fellow coloured women to products that suit their skin tones.

Some of the opinions in this post are based on the samples I have tried out and others are based on products I've actually purchased.

Here we go!

1) YSL Touché Etait foundation. It retails for £31.50. It's extremely easy to blend and leaves your skin looking flawless. The most expensive of the 3 but it's worth every single penny. It has a lovely dewy finish along with a slight shimmer; that leaves you looking like a goddess.

2) Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation. It retails for £25. It serves as both a foundation and a concealer. When you take in to consideration the price of these items if you were to buy them separately; you would understand just how much of a bargain this is. To conceal you simply dab and to apply as a foundation you brush the product across your face.

3) MAC Studio Fix Fluid. It retails for £21.50. The cheapest among them all but that doesn't mean it's quality isn't up to par. It's a full coverage foundation. This foundation does require quite a bit of blending (what foundation doesn't?) but once you've blended it well, it literally looks like your second skin.

There are many more brands that cater to women of a darker complexion but these are the brands that I have tried and loved. I don't believe in recommending products that I haven't tried out.

I hope this has helped you discover new brands that will make your makeup application process shorter or less complicated.

If you would like more product recommendations, comment down below. I hope you've all had an amazing Easter.

See you soon,
Tee xoxo

Don't Give Up | #WAKEUPWEDNESDAYS

Hey guys,

It's that time of the week again! I've had such an amazing week so far and I can't wait to see what the rest of the week will entail.

Today's focus is perseverance, or in simpler terms not giving up. I feel like these posts can be a bit boring if it's loads of writing so today I'm going to switch it up. For this post, it will mostly consist of pictures of quotes that I think will stop you from giving up and then at the end give my opinion and summarise the general message from the pictures.

I'm not sure about you but when I do give up its because nothing seems to be going in my favour. These images highlight the importance of perseverance. It's important to not let challenges stop us from completing a mission or achieving a goal. We should instead see each challenge as a way to grow and better ourselves. We should also change the way we look at a situation and then seek the ways in which we can utilise it to benefit us and help us to achieve our end goal.

There may be some cases in which we may come across a challenge that throws us off our end goal completely. This can be extremely devastating regardless of whether you were just starting your journey or almost finishing it. In situations like this I try my hardest to maintain a positive attitude and then see if I can go about things a different way. If not, I'll just turn to plan B and work my way up to my goal.

It's never too late to start again. It's never too late to learn a new thing. It's not failure if you get back up from it.

Keep your head up high and stand tall regardless of what you may be going through.

I hope you've enjoyed this post. I wish you all have a productive week.

See you soon,
Tee xoxo
